Mr. K. B. Rind, a senior civil servant of Pakistan, is serving the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan, in the capacity of Federal Secretary. Being the Focal Point of the host country of COMSATS, Pakistan, he has been the Chairman COMSATS’ Consultative Committee since early 2010, when he succeeded Mr. M. Kashif Murtaza as the Federal Secretary.
Born in the south-eastern province of Pakistan, Sindh, Mr. Rind completed his bachelors and masters with honours in English Literature (1969-1973) from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan. Later, he also acquired the degree of ‘Masters in Science’ with specialization in Defense Strategic Studies (1997-1998), from the National Defence College, Islamabad, Pakistan. Mr. Rind belongs to the District Management Group of the Central Superior Services of Pakistan.
Mr. Rind, having more than 35 years of experience, has held a number of important positions in federal and provincial governments of Pakistan. At provincial level, he has been the Assistant/Deputy Commissioner of various districts and sub-divisions of Sindh; and Secretary to the departments of Education, Agriculture and Excise and Taxation, Government of Sindh. At federal government-level, Mr. Rind has been associated with the Establishment Division; Ministry of Communications and Railways; Ministry of Communications; and Ministry of Ports and Shipping of the Government of Pakistan. He has also served as the Community Welfare Attaché at Pakistan High Commission in the UK. The positions held by him in the recent years are Chief Secretary Government of Balochistan and Secretary, Narcotics Control Division of Government of Pakistan.
In view of his expertise in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Corporate Management, Industrial Management, Rural and Social Sector Development, Revenue Administration and Maritime Affairs, Mr. Rind has been a member of Board of Directors of a number of national and provincial corporations. |
