My dear Head of Centre-of-Excellence
I have the honour to inform you that COMSATS has launched a bimonthly Newsletter with effect from 1st January 2009. The first eight issues of the Newsletter are now available on the website.
The focus of the ‘COMSATS Newsletter’ is on the developmental issues confronting member states and the technology-based solutions adopted by different countries. In accordance with the primary mission of COMSATS, our objective is to disseminate information and generate cooperative activities that contribute towards socio-economic development. I am confident that your centre will fully participate in this effort by providing information on:
- Your Institute’s current scientific activities;
- Expertise and training opportunities offered by your Centre;
- The proposals and comments from your colleagues about enhancing South-South Cooperation;
- Your future plans and programmes;
- Scientific and technological advances taking placing globally with impact on the economies of developing countries;
- Any other experience or information that you would like to share with other member countries.
The information provided by you and your colleagues can be in the form of word processor text files, pictures and graphics sent to the official e-mail comsats@comsats.org.pk. I am pleased to inform you that we have established an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to make the submission, of your contributions for the Newsletter, convenient. FTP access may be used to transfer large files through the following FTP link:

After opening the FTP page, follow the instructions given on this page, in order to access your authorized directory. You will need a ‘username’ and ‘password’ which will be communicated to you on request sent to nisar@comsats.net.pk
I sincerely hope that this new initiative of COMSATS will provide a useful forum for information exchange and constructive dialogue leading to innovative ideas for meeting the challenges of economic development. I request you kindly to bring this information to the notice of your colleagues and encourage them to send their contributions to COMSATS in the form of letters, articles, proposals, technology alerts, comments, summaries of their on-going programmes and future plans.
