|After having completed MS degrees under COMSATS scholarships, a batch of Nigerian students called on the Executive Director, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi at the COMSATS Secretariat in Islamabad, Pakistan, on June 20, 2016, before leaving for their home country.
The students’ delegation comprising four graduates in Mathematics and Information Security thanked the Executive Director for his keen interest in facilitating the fulfilment of the criteria for their degree requirements in Pakistan and they appreciated COMSATS for providing them an opportunity to earn Masters’ degrees in very important fields of studies related to Nigeria’s development.
Six students completed their degrees in the disciplines of Mathematics, Physics and Information Security from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). Their selection and placement process was facilitated by Nigeria’s National Mathematical Centre (NMC), which is one of COMSATS’ Centres of Excellence.
The Executive Director congratulated the students on successful completion of their academic programmes with outstanding results and hoped that the knowledge and skills gained during their two-year study in Pakistan would be a valuable contribution towards the development of Nigeria, a Member State of COMSATS.
“COMSATS is pleased to provide services to students from our important Member State, Nigeria, and we are proud that you have received education at CIIT”, said Dr. Qureshi.
The students shared good memories of their stay and study experience in Pakistan, and expressed resolve to contribute for the progress of Nigeria.
“Our stay and study was full of learning. We have a sense of accomplishment and will remember this experience throughout our lives. We must thank the talented and hardworking faculty members of CIIT who have imparted knowledge to us and we are grateful to COMSATS for this facilitation”, the students told the Executive Director.
Dr. Qureshi expressed gratitude to the Director/Chief Executive Officer NMC, Prof A. R. T. Solarin, for his remarkable contributions towards realization of the aims and objectives of COMSATS and for facilitating the selection of the grantees of COMSATS Scholarship.
The students who have completed their degrees include, Mr. Daifur Abubakar Girei (MS-Information Security), Mr. Muhammad Sirajo Abdullai (MS-Mathematics), Mr. Tayo Abiodun Ogunjemiyo (MS-Mathematics), Mr. Anya Augistine Igwebuike (MS-Mathematics), Mr. Olakanmi Felix Akinto (MS-Physics) and Mr. Christian Peace Nwachioma (MS-Physics).
